Actiponce® for Water, Wastewater Treatment and Filtering Systems

Actiponce® products can be used in a great range of areas in water related systems. Actiponce® products developed for the drinking water and wastewater treatment process are based on the products developed through meticulous R&D activities conducted with support of TÜBİTAK. Actiponce® consists of products manufactured by various patented methods which includes processing pumice stone and coating it with industrial processes to produce products that can be used as filters, sorbents and reaction medium required for various types of water and wastewater processes. Besides its use as a filtering material in water, waste water and industrial water and wastewater systems, instead of materials like sand and zeolite, the product can also be used in chemical treatment systems, biological treatment systems, pool and aquarium filters. Particularly, use of Actiponce® products in municipal and industrial wastewater, increases the efficiency of treatment systems, which eventually results with a considerable decrease in treatment cost. On the other hand, our products can also be used to remove odor in air and wastewater.

The manufacturing process of our products are based on CE standards. Especially the manufacturing process of our filtering materials is compatible with standards defined in EN 12906, EN 12902 and EN 1097-6. All our products are provided together with product data sheet and material safety data form.

Actiponce® for Drinking, Process water treatment and filtering systems

Treatment of clean water is required in three different sectors:

Main Sectors:

1. Drinking Water Systems
2. Process Water Production Facilities
3. Demineralized water production Facilities

In these three main sectors, and especially in the filtration units, our products are used as an alternative to sand, micronized sand, zeolite, gravel, blasted clay and anthracite. In addition, in chemical treatment products, they are used to obtain flocs of improved characteristics and for adsorbing certain dissolved material in fluidized bed systems. Since the products is light in weight and has a high rate of porosity, it enables the use of precise units used in advanced treatment systems for longer periods, by keeping coarse particles at micronized basis, which eventually increases the life cycle of the systems. Thus, the operation cost of treatment facilities can be decreased at a significant level. On the other hand, when compared with other products, while the cost of pumice stone per ton of weight appears to be higher, the actual cost, compared by volume (which is the parameter that is important) is at much more affordable prices.

For example, in a filter using sand, 6.8 tons of sand would be required to fill a volume of 4.5 cubic meters and on the other hand, the required weight of Actiponce® product used for this area of service would be restricted by 2-2.5 tons only.

The product captures the suspended solid materials and organic materials that can be at micronized dimensions, which cause turbidity in water. On the other hand, specifically manufactured Actiponce® products can be used in various stages of treatment, like both as a filtering material and also for removing heavy metals like iron, manganese and arsenic as well as ammonium products in the fluidized bed systems. We also have media products that can be used to grown bacteria in biological treatment facilities.

Actiponce® products are also used in process and demineralized water production facilities. By using the product in the preliminary filtration system, before the advanced filtration units of the facilities, preliminary treatment is made at high efficiency, thus improving the efficiency of the facility, which eventually reduces the costs.

Specific Product Actiponce® Instead of Activated Carbon

One other product we highly promote is our Actiponce® product that is coated through a process, to be used in areas where active carbon is used. It is possible to eliminate taste, odor and color from water and remove chlorine and chlorine compounds, THM’s and all organic material, by filtering water using this product.

Actiponce® products are also used in process and demineralized water production facilities. By using the product in the preliminary filtration system, before the advanced filtration units of the facilities, preliminary treatment is made at high efficiency, thus improving the efficiency of the facility, which eventually reduces the costs.

Actiponce® for Waste Water Treatment and Waste Water Filtration

Our Actiponce® products can also be used in wastewater treatment sector. Our firm has conducted a successful R&D study with support of TÜBİTAK, on this issue. In our TÜBİTAK 1507 KOBİ AR-GE 7100702 no filtration project, municipal wastewater was successfully treated using our installed filter system, giving results compatible with related standards.

Because of its specific structure, it is possible to use Actiponce® products to replace bio-styrene, polyethylene, gravel, sand and blasted clay, as filtering material. Since it has a porous structure, when compared to other products, besides removing suspended and dissolved organic pollutants, resulting from carbon products, Actiponce® can especially be used to remove nitrogen pollutants, as well as phosphorous pollutants to a great extent.

Uses of Actiponce® products in filtering wastewater are summarized in the following table.

By using Actiponce® products for specifically produced for Biological Wastewater Treatment Facilities with Fluidized Beds, significant rate of contribution will be possible in treatment of water with the biofilm layer growing on mobile grains. With use of our specifically designed products, it will be possible to achieve Suspended Solid Matter, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Biological Oxygen Demand and Oil-Grease removal as levels specified in water pollution control regulations, as required by Europe and Turkey.

Our specifically designed biofilm growth promoting medium also allows development of nitrification and denitrification processes within the grains. In addition, it is observed that, with our product less waste water sludge is formed, when compared to the classical biological treatment systems, thanks to consumption of the dead bacteria forming on the biofilm by our special bacteria growing on the medium.

Our Actiponce® products are also preferred for improving the efficiency of biological treatment facilities, of inadequate efficiency level.

Our product produced by our patented process to replace active carbon, can especially be used in to treat wastewater in areas that generate small scale of wastewater, like villages, hotels, districts with very high land vale or areas where the available land for biological treatment is very limited. Below table provides results of a test conducted for this purpose, as an example.

The product can be used in wastewater treatment facilities of factories that generate high level of lipids in food industry, like paper factories, sunflower oil factories, oil facilities, fruit juice factories, carbonated drink factories, alcoholic beverage factories and also in facilities processing milk and milk products. ON the other hand, they can also be used in wastewater treatment facilities that uses petroleum products, including plastic industry, refineries, iron rolling mills.

At places where rain water is used as utility water, it is possible to remove the hydrocarbon components in the rainwater by filtering it with Actiponce®

Thus our Actiponce® products can be used in a wide range or areas in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities. Our products also serve to reduce the level of odor emitted from the treatment facilities.

Actiponce® for hatcheries

Our Actiponce® product specifically produced for hatcheries, ensures that when water from fish growing facilities is filtered, is returned to the hatchery in rich in oxygen and at levels needed by the fish, especially even in seasons when water flow rate is very low. After these long lasting filters are used, since the filter residue from the product will be rich in fertilizers, it can be used as a material for agriculture purposes, contributing to the economy. Actiponce® for swimming pools and ornamental pools

Our Actiponce® can be used efficiently in the filter systems of swimming pools, especially to replace sand. Our product effectively traps the suspended solid matter and micro-particles causing turbidity, entering the circulating systems. Our product can preserve its filtering capability for a very long period.

Some of our specific products may be used in treatment of organic pollutants, turbidity, residual chlorine an ozone remains in aquariums. These can also be used to eliminate the undesired odor and taste in aquariums.

Actiponce® for Odor Treatment and Dehumidification Processes

Since Actiponce® is capable of removing H₂S, mercaptans, volatile organic carbon products, it can be used as odor filter. It is possible to use Actiponce® for preventing/eliminating biological and chemical odor by using it directly in filters, or coating it or embedding bacteria on it.

Actiponce® used by treating it with various chemicals will achieve dehumidifying characteristics, for use in cooling-ventilation systems of cold air storage units.
